On January the 25th, Clean Coast Collective, Spell and Future Dreamers teamed up for a community beach clean up at our much-adored Belongil Beach. In just 45 minutes, the girls collected over 25kg of rubbish from the dunes, revealing the assortment of waste thats often left for the ocean to collect itself.

Total weight = 25kg
Total number of items collected= 429
Summary of items found:
Straws – 23
Cigarette butts – 55
Plastic Lids – 27
Plastic Bottles – 3
Plastic wrapping (soft) – 103
Plastic Bags (mostly dog poo bags) – 53
Hard Plastic pieces – 65
Toys – 2
Fishing related – 9
Rope – 3 (4 metres total)

With these results, a discussion of what it means to be environmentally sustainable and the importance of raising awareness of such, kicked off over a picnic overlooking the water that many of us are so familiar with.

A big thank you to Spell and Clean Coast Collective for coming together in spirit of restoring our incredible landscape and Harvest for the picnic so delightedly enjoyed by all.
