Future Dreamers Society
24 Marvell Street, Byron Bay
Over time, programs of the Club have evolved to include special programs designed to relieve the distress of ‘at risk’ girls and young women in need, such as mental illness and severe lack of self-esteem. Based on the works of Dr Arne Rubenstein, we developed a series of therapy programs designed to assist disadvantaged and ‘at-risk’ young women. These programs are recognised by the community as having tremendous value and receive support from their sponsors and through donations.
Dr Arne Rubinstein is a well-known expert on adolescent development, counselling and rehabilitation, with 30 years’ experience as a doctor, counsellor, mentor, speaker and workshop facilitator. Dr Arne was the founder of Uplifting Australia, a harm prevention charity set up to improve the emotional wellbeing and resilience of children and their families around Australia. His work has also been informed by his practice as a GP for 15 years, specialising in adolescent health, and preventative and emergency medicine.
Local community centres, youth centres and hospitals started referring these ‘at risk’ young women to the Club. Due to the growing demands for addressing such needs, the Club decided to separate the provision of relief to a subsidiary entity. The Society was established in 2018 to focus on the delivery of the special programs that provide relief for disadvantaged and ‘at risk’ girls and young women. Where Department of Human Services assistance is identified, the programs are provided for free, so that financial hardship cannot prevent young women from attending and participating.
